ABOUT THE TEACHER:

Originally from Central Ohio, Mrs. Julianne Batchelor started taking piano lessons at the age of 5. Having grown up playing the piano, she was accompanying for church services at the age of 10. She completed her Bachelor of Music Degree in Piano Pedagogy in 1993.  In the early 2000s she also completed additional training from the Musikgarten Music Program at the University of Miami.  She is certified in all levels of Musikgarten including early childhood and group piano methods for older students.
 
Additionally, Mrs. Batchelor completed teacher training in the Suzuki Method from the 
Suzuki Association of the Americas. She was a student of the late Mary Craig Powell in master classes at Capitol University in Columbus, OH. Mrs. Batchelor is certified in all levels of Suzuki Piano.
 
A mother of seven, Mrs. Batchelor has taught private piano for over 30 years.  Her experience includes teaching piano and music at various schools and studios, including the Hanalani Schools (Mililani, HI), the McCutcheon Studios (Centerville, OH), the Academy of Fine Arts (West Palm Beach, FL), and at Wittenberg University ( Springfield, OH ), where she was as adjunct instructor of piano pedagogy.
 

Currently, Mrs. Batchelor teaches at St. Mary's Hall. She previously taught music at the St. Paul's Episcopal Montessori School in San Antonio. She also teaches private piano at the her home. She is the chapel pianist at the JBSA Randolph AFB Chapel. .

Mrs. Batchelor's teaching philosophy includes fostering growth in all levels of musicianship, including ear-training, sight reading, theory, performance technique, music appreciation, and expression. Piano students need reachable goals, constant encouragement, expert teaching, and efficient practice to acquire the skills necessary to play proficiently.
 
Mrs. Batchelor believes her multi-faceted approach to piano education will deeply enrich her students' lives by providing them with the great joy and fulfillment of creating music as they embark on the lively adventure of playing the piano.
